Prompt: What’s your favorite way to spend a lazy day?
I would first need to define what a lazy day is. For my family, a lazy day is one where we do not have any work, Scouting, or other “outside”commitments to keep. These days are few and very far between.
When we do have a “lazy day”, generally we all just plop down in front of the TV and take turns watching a show or movie. We may go out for a meal or we may stay in. Breakfast for dinner is one of my absolute favorites, so there will be pancakes and bacon during the day at some point.
But my favorite “lazy day” was several years ago. We were on holiday in Estes Park, Colorado. We’ve been camping in the same camp ground for several years now, and it’s just break-taking. We were there a week, I want to say it was 2011 during our Alaska trip. Richard had to work, so it was the boys and I doing whatever we wanted.
The morning was cool, not cold, and opening up the RV door first thing in the morning to take the dogs out for their walkies, the sun was shining brightly, the sky was a beautiful blue and the clouds looked like cotton balls strewn across the sky. Turing my head slightly to the left, I had a glorious view of Long’s Peak, capped with snow and standing tall and proud in the morning sun. Turning my head to the right, the view of the Rocky Mountains in all their glory was laid out in front of me. The dogs enjoyed their walk, sniffing each hole, straining against their harnesses to follow all the unique smells.
I can’t even begin to tell you how awesome it was to be able to have my morning cuppa tea outside in the fresh air whilst taking in the gorgeous view. It didn’t matter if we did nothing or everything that day because the morning was amazing.
Photo Credit: Me! I took the pix with my iPhone while on a hiking trail in the Rocky Mountain National Park. I wanted to post the photo that I took from the door of the RV, but I can’t find that one. Maybe it is just a memory and I didn’t actually take the photo. I’m not sure now. Sorry!
