Prompt:  It is the end of your life and you are up on a stage being presented with an major award.  What award is it, and what have you won it for?

Ummmmm….   ( the sound of a clock ticking is all that you hear right now.  For going on 5 minutes…)

If you would have asked me this question when I was 17, I would have told you that it would be a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.    If you would have asked me with when my  kids were 5, 3 and 1, I would have told you Mother of the Year.

However, you are asking me now.  At a time when my kids don’t really need me, I’m starting a new career (my own business) and I can’t seem to be able to string two sentences together without the help of my phone.  I’ve been stumbling here for a while, and the oldest just got home from classes; I asked him what he’d get an award for and we just had a philosophical discussion about nothing.

Maybe the award would be for Able to Spend the most Money on Unneeded Things.  Or  The Most Colors Ever put into One’s Hair over a Lifetime.  Actually that last one sounds pretty good.  So that will be it.  I have won this award because I have had hair the colors of a rainbow and beyond, ether on purpose or accident, over the lifetime of my life.  I will be accepting this award with a wig on, as the majority of my hair has either been burned off or has fallen out.   That’s ok though – when they play the slideshow, I’ll be able to look back fondly and say that “I always had good hair”.
