Prompt:  Have you ever lived in another country besides your country of birth?  Would you want to?

I was born in Texas.  I have never lived anywhere else.  I have traveled and spent weeks at a time in other states, other countries, but I have never lived anywhere but Texas.

If you are new to reading this blog, welcome.  If not, this is going to get redundant.  I honestly thought about cut/paste from another entry, but I have decided against that for my own sanity.  So here it goes;  I’ve warned you.

There are only two places in the world (that I have been to) that I would even consider living at besides Texas.  If I needed to stay in the States, I would live in Colorado, up in Estes Park.  The Rocky Mountains are a vision of the awesome power of God and nature that should be held with respect and awe.  We’ve vacationed there many a time, and I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing it is.   The Pro’s:  It’s clean.  It’s beautiful.  It’s not flat.  It’s got low humidity and it seems very relaxed.   The Con’s:  It gets really cold there.  It’s got really low humidity (I’d dry out so fast) and they don’t have a clue how to make Mexican or Tex-Mex food.

The only other place in the world that I would want to live, is of course, Scotland.   I won’t lament about how much I love Scotland, I think I’ve done that in enough of these posts.  What I will say is this:  Yes, I know it’s cold.  Yes, I know it’s windy.  Yes, I know that having the sun out for the day is not normal.  Yes, I know that it would be culture shock (to a degree), but honestly, and as much as I don’t do change well, I would figure out how to make it work.   The land is steeped in such history, such pride – it’s very much like Texas in that way.  I guess that’s the thing.  As much as I am a Texan, the Scottish people remind me of that.  They are very prideful and friendly.  They welcomed us, talked with us about just about anything and were so engaging.  It truly was like being home, but in much, much older places.  And yes, I realize that I may have a romanticized view of it since we were only there for 10 days while on holiday.  It was amazing.  Truly.
