Prompt: “Give your city (or town or region) a new name that reflects what type of place it is, and explain why you chose that name.
Okay, firstly let me apologize for the total lack of commitment on my part to this new venture I call “Something New”. Yes, it’s been over a month since I have written anything, but you know, school started, then we got a hurricane and then school began again… it’s been a strange month. So this is me, starting fresh. On to it then…
If I had to rename Spring based on the criteria written out, I think I would call it: Diverseity. Or Diversetown or Diverseville. Something with “Diverse” being a big part of the name. Spring is a very diverse area. It’s not huge, but it’s packed. There are shopping areas that are old and charming (Old Town Spring), there are brand spanking new places that look so modern and sleek. There are small, family run restaurants to big, huge chain restaurants. There are small businesses all over the place and then there are the big box stores. It’s a multicultural area.
Spring is around 25 miles from Downtown Houston. So, while we are not in Houston, we are close enough to it to be able to enjoy all it has to offer as a HUGE Metropolitan area. Perhaps that’s why Spring is as diverse as it is.
