Prompt: What did you get into trouble for the most when you were a kid?

I was a perfect angel when I was a child and NEVER got into any trouble at all!  Ok, that’s a lie.  I was in trouble constantly.  To this day we don’t talk about my teenage years unless I bring it up.  And even then it’s not a long conversation.

I would have to say that I was in trouble a lot for fighting with my sister.  I only have one, and she is 6 years my senior.  It’s not that we don’t get along, we do now.  That we are grown up (for me that’s a subjective thought – I don’t always feel grown up) we get on fine.  But we don’t live under the same roof and our rooms are not right next to each other.

Honestly, looking at my own boys, I don’t think that my relationship with my sister is any better or worse at the same age that my boys have with each other.  It’s strange trying to look at it from a different perspective.  It’s enlightening, maddening, loving, forgiving and down right terrifying all at the same time.  I will say this, Sister, I am terribly sorry for the day that I smacked you with the wire coat hanger and hurt you.  I don’t remember all the details or even why, I just remember that you locked yourself in the bathroom and wouldn’t come out so I had to call Grandma to come talk to you.  I knew I was going to have to “catch my ankles” that night and get a spanking.  And if memory is correct, I think you had a bit of a smirk on your face when I was getting my bottom handed to me.  Oh well, bygones…

Hummm…after writing the above paragraph, I seem to remember that I was in trouble for misbehaving. And now I’m having the stark realization that my boys are SO much like me it’s not even funny.  I think I need another cuppa and I need to call my Sister and then my Mom & Dad.  I got some apologizing to do…  Yikes!
