A couple of years ago, I staffed a youth training with Boy Scouts called National Youth Leadership Training, or NYLT for short.   I was able to work with some amazing adults, Amy, the Beck and Superman.  But what was really neat was that I got to work with some great young men.

Yes, I know that I said I would keep my non-tea related posts to a different page, but trust me, this one is.

Anyway, these boys were talking a lot.  Outside. In the Texas summer heat and humidity.  So, a couple of the boys got laryngitis.  I broke out the tea for some natural healing.  Some good yummy red tea did the job and didn’t keep them up, so woo-hoo.

Fast forward to Sunday.  It’s over 2 years later and one particular young man from the course is in Louisiana attending pilot school.  I see his mom at an Eagle Court of Honor that I am at and she tells me that he drinks hot tea all the time now, and “blames” me for it.

Can I say that I have never been so happy to hear this.  She also tells me that his roommate is from Sir Lanka and will bring back literal bricks of Ceylon with him when he comes back from visiting home.  In the moment I went from full of pride to green jealousy in a split second.

What could I do, in the middle of a huge meeting room with 150 Scouts and Scouters there?  I went and got a glass of iced tea.  It wasn’t the best, but it was tea and it soothed the little green monster that was trying to get out (that sounds nasty).

Looking back, I have decided that I am just going to have to go to Sir Lanka to get my own bricks of tea.
