Ah, purple.

I used to like reds, all the reds in the spectrum – except pink.  I’ve never been a pink person.  Then it was blue.  There are so many blues.  The sky blue, the ocean blue, the brilliant blue of a certain actor that I adore (some might say I’ve been “Batched”)… and while I still love all of these colors, I must admit that purple has been turning my head for the last few months.

It’s gotten so bad that I have purple in my hair, I have a specific nail color (a powder) that is just for me and I’ve even gone so far to buy purple paint so that when I repaint my studio, it can, in fact, be purple.  It’s not a bad thing.  Purple is regal, royal.  It’s a color of depth and history.  It’s not just red, or blue, it’s purple.  I think it was natural that I gravitate to it, given my previous color choices.

So how is this tea related?   Oh just wait… It’s always all about the tea!

3 years ago, my amazing hubby and I flew to the UK.  We were celebrating our 20th Anniversary (every 5 years we take a “big” trip).  At 15 years, we went to Las Vegas for 4 or 5 days.  This trip, we were in Scotland for 10 days.  It was an amazing trip!  I would go back in a heart beat.  And let me just say this – I am a Texas Gal.  I Love Texas with all my heart and thought I would never want to live anywhere else. Then we went to Scotland, and I found that it is possibly the only other place that I would want to live in this world.

What do I remember most about the trip?  The heather fields on the Isle of Skye and the swatches of purple all over.  In the sky, in the rock, on the flowers, it was everywhere.  It was amazing!  I also cant even tell you about all the yummy tea that I consumed.

I have a bad tea habit, as we know.  We’d stop for tea, and they would give me the most delightful little tea pots.  They were cute and dainty and … small. But that was okay, because I had a huge piece of chocolate cake or a yummy scone to have it with.  One time Richard and I stopped at a grocery and bought a huge loaf of bread: we found some heather honey at once of the gift shops (of all places), so we’d fix some tea to go in the mornings, grab our loaf of bread and some of the heather honey and that would be our breakfast and sometimes lunch, depending on where we were heading and how many places I had us going to in one day (I am master of time management on holiday, not in real life).

What I have determined is this:  I am not a fan of any Oolong tea, I really like a malty black tea just about any time of day, provided I have raw (or brown) sugar with it and a splash of 1/2 & 1/2.  In other words, I am spoiled.

For our 25th anniversary, I am trying to talk Richard into going back to Scotland, but there is SO much world out there to see, and I want to see it all! So who knows, maybe we’ll go to Wales or Northern Ireland to say on the UK or we might end up down under in Australia or New Zealand.

Where ever we go, as long as I can get a good (several) cuppa’s in the morning, and find that purple shirt I love, I’ll be right as rain and ready to tackle the world!
