Tetley Tea

There is nothing better in the morning than having a nice cuppa and a slice of toast.  I prefer wheat (or brown) toast.  I have gone through several teas and there are a few that are my fallback tea if I am out of what I really want.

Tetley Tea is one of them.  I first recall drinking it when the hubby and I were in London almost 18 years ago.  The hotel we were at (some where close to/or in Hyde Park) served it with breakfast.  It was warm and delightful.  Once we were stateside again, i could find it without issue at our local grocery store.  They had the coolest bags, you just pulled the strings and it would squeeze its self.  Self squeezing bags, i guess.  I would buy a box and keep at work.

I would drink other teas as well, but I always knew that Tetley was there for me.

Fast forward 16 years and while the hubby and I were traveling in Scotland, most of the hotels were serving Tetley teas.  It’s delightful to see the rich tan color in the cup, to smell the aroma of tea.  It may not be as enticing as coffee (by pure smell), but I don’t think anyone would turn down a good smelling cuppa, at any time of day.  And with a yummy chocolate covered (or iced) biscuit, aw, even better!

Now it’s 2 years later and I find that the grocery store that I frequent does not carry it, so when at the “other” place, I will buy a box (or two) and stow away in the cabinet for when I run out of whatever I’m drinking.  Ultimately,  Tetley tea, for me tastes yummy.  Is it the tea or is it the memories?  I don’t really know.  But I will never turn down a cuppa Tetley.
