I was, once again, shopping at my local World Market, looking for some Lifeboat Tea (which they didn’t have), and ran across this tea. The only other Irish Breakfast tea that I have had is, you guessed it, Barry’s. I threw it into my cart as well as some Barry’s tea and some Typhoo (that will be in a couple of weeks).
Oh my goodness! I LOVE this tea. I’ve thrown the customary bags into m favourite metal tea pot (see Musings for a photo if you are interested) and wait (for 4 minutes). It’s rich and stout, but not to stout (using a stupid metaphor – Between “the Rock” as primo stoutness, and Daniel Radcliffe as barely stout, this tea is rated as a Chris Evans for me). It has an amazing aroma and the taste is not overwhelmed by the milk (or half & half). I gave up sweets for lent, but I could absolutely see having a chocolate biscuit with this tea. Or a nice piece of wheat (or Brown) toast with it and a liberal smear of blueberry jam, or a poppy seed bagel with a smear of strawberry cream cheese.
Wow, can you tell I’m hungry?
I’ve never commented on packaging before, but I will this time. I like their package. It’s foil and flashy, but has some cardboard inserts so it stays a bit rigid. But what I really like is that when it’s all gone, it won’t make a lot of trash. I like that. Even though now that I’m thinking bout it, you an break all the other tea boxes down so they don’t make a lot of trash either… But this one is the easiest by far.
I will absoultely be getting this tea again. As an Irish Tea novice, this is a nice way to meet it. Tasty (yumm-o!), smelly (as in yummy aroma) and with vision of Chris Evans (Shirtless, as Capt America)… who could ask for more?
