Experiment 13  –  12 September 2016

Dearest Fraulein,

As you can see from the specimen below, this day of hand-building has been a waste of time. I enjoyed being able to use the oval hump-mold, it did it’s job perfectly.  As did the texture rollers.  I cannot express thanks enough for the use of them.  However, I ended up botching the whole process up when I attempted to join the two halves and make one whole piece.  This grandiose thought for a chocolate pot is an unmitigated disaster.  And it’s crooked, or lop-sided.

Oh the horror of mis-managed clay!

Even the leaves that I tried to hide the misshapen handle with are breaking and horribly rudimental (not featuring John Newman)!!

Yes, it absolutely should be thrown into the recycle bin! But, alas, I have chosen to carry this one through the firing process.  I want to set it on the counter to be reminded that if you try to hurry the process along, you will only meet misfortune.

The lesson that I take away from this is;  that inspiration strikes anywhere.  How you chose to express that inspiration is a personal choice.  If you chose to let people see your work, no matter your skill with the piece, be prepared for the comments.  Your work is constantly evolving and showing how you are learning with your skill.   This work shows that I have a lot, and I mean A LOT of evolving to do.

Tutty-Byes,
